It grieves my spirit every time I hear people criticize or condemn the act of prayer—as if seeking God is a weak or passive response to life’s real issues. Those words pierce deeply because they reveal a deeper disconnect. It makes me realize all the more just how urgently and consistently we need to pray.

For those of us who believe in the Word of God and live by the principles He left for us, prayer is not optional—it’s essential. Scripture clearly instructs us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This isn’t a passive suggestion; it’s a call to maintain an ongoing, intimate dialogue with God.

Yes, we also understand James 2:17: “Faith without works is dead.” Faith moves us to act. But prayer? Prayer is the connection. It’s the lifeline. It’s how we hear from God, how we seek wisdom, direction, peace, and clarity. Without it, our actions can become misaligned, reactionary, or even destructive.

To suggest that prayer isn’t enough—or worse, that it shouldn’t be involved at all—is to deny the very foundation of faith. It isn’t either/or. It’s both/and.
We must pray, and act.
We must listen, and move.
We must surrender, and build.

I believe there could be a prayer rally, meeting, gathering, or conference every single day—and it still wouldn’t be enough. Prayer isn’t just an event. It’s a lifestyle. For believers, it’s the starting point for every endeavor and the strength behind every step forward.

When we pray, we don’t just speak—we listen. We receive divine instruction, peace in chaos, and the courage to act boldly. We don’t use prayer as an excuse to do nothing. We use prayer as the power source to do everything with purpose.

To my fellow believers: Do not be discouraged. Keep praying. Pray for your community, your family, your future, your leaders, your businesses, your health, your joy, and your direction. Don’t let the world convince you that prayer is weak. In truth, it’s one of the most powerful things you can do.
