Reclaiming the Right to Write: Greenwood Literary Voices Calls Black Authors to Historic Tulsa
TULSA, OK — On May 31 and June 1, 2025, a new chapter will be written on historic Greenwood Avenue—one of revival, resistance, and reverence. The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first and only Black woman-owned radio station, proudly presents Greenwood Literary Voices: Honoring Stories, Honoring History, a national two-day book event set on the sacred soil of Black Wall Street.
This powerful literary experience invites Black authors from across the country to share their books, amplify their voices, and sign on a street once silenced by tragedy and oppression. It is more than a book event—it is a cultural restoration.
> “After the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, our people weren’t allowed to speak, let alone write,” said Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder & CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG.
“We’re reclaiming that right. This is about being seen, heard, and honored.”
Greenwood Literary Voices is a platform for Black excellence in every genre—from fiction and poetry to memoir, self-help, and business guides. It is a call to authors, dreamers, educators, healers, and historians to stand where legacy was once destroyed—and rebuild it, word by word.
