The Greenwood Beat – WFPG is not just a radio station, it’s a voice of Greenwood and a voice to the people. With their mission to be “A Voice of Greenwood,” they are making a significant impact in the community. Recognized as Oklahoma’s first women-owned radio station and the first black, woman-owned radio, WFPG is not only catching on but soaring to new heights.

Founder and CEO, Dr. Angela K. Chambers, is creating a platform to tell the true story of the historic Greenwood District then and now “It’s no longer radio as usual,” says Dr. Chambers. “The prevalence of digital radio and its ability to reach the masses is just one indicator. We are using The Greenwood Beat not just for entertainment, but also for education, information, and inspiration.

 

Volunteers to read on air to children. The Greenwood BeatWFPG kicks off Let’s READ!

On January 6, 2024, Dr. Chambers launched the “Let’s READ” segment on The Greenwood Beat – WFPG. She invited Mr. Troy J. Petit, Sr.,  an author and educator, to discuss his passion for writing “Hugs of Love” and read a few pages on air. Although Mr. Petit’s book is primarily aimed at children, it contains a valuable lesson about love that resonates with readers of all ages.
