Ask Angela and The Greenwood Beat – WFPG Presents National Book Event “Greenwood Literary Voices” May 31 & June 1 on Historic Black Wall Street

TULSA, OK — The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first and only Black woman-owned radio station on historic Greenwood Avenue, is proud to announce Greenwood Literary Voices: Honoring Stories, Honoring History, a two-day national literary experience taking place May 31 and June 1, 2025, in the heart of what was once known as Black Wall Street.

This historic book event is designed to spotlight diverse authors from across the nation in a powerful celebration of storytelling, culture, and legacy. The event includes author presentations, live interviews, book signings, media coverage, and community engagement—all on the historic grounds of Greenwood Avenue.

“After the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, Black voices were silenced—told not to speak, not to write, not to remember out loud. Greenwood Literary Voices is a restoration of that voice, a reclaiming of the right to tell our stories boldly and freely, said Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG.

Each participating author will receive a 30-minute spotlight segment, a featured book signing session, and a live on-air interview with Dr. Chambers. The event will be broadcast on The Greenwood Beat – WFPG and live streamed across social media platforms. Author registration is $275 and includes all features plus lunch each day.

The event will coincide with the citywide observance of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, now officially recognized by Tulsa’s first Black mayor. Greenwood Literary Voices seeks to bring national awareness to the importance of storytelling—not just as a form of art, but as an act of resistance, healing, and community building.

Authors, readers, press, and community members are encouraged to attend.

Space is limited for authors. To register, contact: askangela@thegreenwoodbeat.com.
