Juneteenth Poetry Showcase at The Greenwood Beat – WFPG: A Celebration of Freedom, Power, and Purpose
What a day! The Greenwood Beat – WFPG’s Juneteenth Poetry & Spoken Word Showcase on June 19, 2025, was a moving tribute to the legacy of freedom and Black expression. The energy, the artistry, the purpose—it all came together in one unforgettable broadcast.
We were blessed with powerful performances from: 🎤 Artist Karen Robinson, who poured passion into every line.
🎤 ArtistJoeMac, who traveled all the way from San Diego, California to share his incredible artistry. His in-studio performance was electric—reciting with the presence and power of a poet standing on a grand stage before thousands. The quality and delivery of both artists were brilliantly composed and deeply heartfelt.
🎶 The event opened with a special tribute from national gospel recording artist Shonda English, offering her reflection on “What Freedom Means to Me.”
🗣️ Minister Antonio McGlothin, Sr. (Host) and Dr. Angela K. Chambers (Co-Host) guided the program with grace, fire, and authenticity.
🌟 Honorary Guest Dr. Pamela K. Dillon (Mother Dillon) offered a short yet powerful message on the meaning of freedom. She declared blessings over the station, over the people, and over the historic grounds of Greenwood. Her presence was both anointed and electrifying.
📚 Author and Motivational Speaker Raittia Rogers—writer of “I Broke Out of Prison”—shared her story and powerful words on freedom, along with a preview of her upcoming theatrical production running July 1st–3rd.
