🎤 Tulsa’s Greenwood Poetry & Spoken Word Championship Announced for September 2025

TULSA, OK — June 20, 2025 — The Greenwood Beat – WFPG proudly announces the launch of Tulsa’s Greenwood Poetry & Spoken Word Championship, a powerful celebration of expression, legacy, and resilience through the arts. The inaugural championship will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in the heart of Historic Greenwood Avenue, also known as the original Black Wall Street.

This electrifying evening will feature spoken word artists and poets from across Oklahoma competing for the title of 2025 Greenwood Poetry Champion, along with a $500 cash prize, media exposure, and the honor of representing Tulsa at the Oklahoma Statewide Poetry and Spoken Word Showcase in 2026.

“This championship is more than a competition — it’s a resurrection of Black voices and stories that have always deserved the mic,” says Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG. “We’re proud to create a platform that uplifts the legacy of Greenwood and invites the next generation to speak truth with power.”

Judged by a panel of Tulsa’s respected artists, educators, and media leaders
