Scheduled for Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Greenwood Cultural Center (322 N Greenwood Ave, Tulsa, OK 74120), this historic gathering will bring together descendants of the original builders and visionaries of Black Wall Street for a soul-stirring meet and greet experience.

Hosted by the Deep Greenwood Foundation, and proudly partnered with The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, Black Flower Society, North Tulsa Economic Development Initiative and Black Wall Street Times, this event is more than just a reunion — it is a sacred opportunity to honor the brilliance, resilience, and enduring spirit of the families who shaped the original Greenwood District, also known as America’s Black Wall Street.

“We Are the Legacy” is the theme, calling all descendants to reconnect with their roots, share their family stories, and continue building on the rich heritage left by those who came before. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their family tree, if available, to contribute to the collective tapestry of Greenwood’s living history.

This family reunion is designed as a heartfelt celebration of history, reflection, and community vision. It offers a space where descendants can:

Set in the heart of Tulsa’s iconic Greenwood District—once known as the original Black Wall Street—this vibrant marketplace is not just an economic engine, but a cultural celebration of Black entrepreneurship, creativity, and resilience.

Hosted in the spirit of community and legacy, the marketplace brings together more than 25 dynamic local vendors offering everything from handmade crafts and beauty products to gourmet eats and wellness services. Shoppers and supporters alike can expect a summer filled with food, live music, and authentic connection—a true Greenwood experience.

“We’re bringing the energy back to Greenwood,” said one of the organizers. “This isn’t just about commerce—it’s about community, culture, and keeping the Black Wall Street legacy alive for future generations.”

Tulsa, OK – April 19, 2025 — The Meet the Press Day Workshop held at OSU-Tulsa was a powerful and engaging event that brought together D9 Leadership for dynamic conversations around media, messaging, and mission. One of the highlights of the event was the impactful presence of Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, who served as a featured panelist.

During the workshop, Dr. Chambers delivered key insights on contacting and reaching the media, sharing from her wealth of experience in media and community storytelling. She passionately emphasized the importance of creating platforms within our own communities to tell our stories—encouraging attendees to position their organizations as media outlets in their own right.

“Even if mainstream media doesn’t pick up your story, you must still tell it,” Dr. Chambers stated, urging organizations to document their impact, craft their narrative, and become consistent content creators.

The session took an inspiring turn when an attendee asked Dr. Chambers about her journey as an author. She opened up about her family’s rich legacy—beginning with her great-grandfather, Neely Factory, one of Oklahoma’s first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals. She spoke proudly of her lineage of entrepreneurship, highlighting her late great uncle, Joe Phifer, who boldly opened a filling station in Oklahoma in the 1970s after returning from military service.

Dr. Chambers also shared the inspiration behind her latest release, Change Your Life in 21 Days of Good Habits—a self-guided resource and motivational tool for individuals seeking to realign and reset their lives with intention. “It’s more than a book,” she explained. “It’s a tool to help people reset—spiritually, emotionally, and physically.”

Hosted by the dynamic Starr Fisher, Co-Owner and Chief Operations Executive of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, the BWSBC brunch is far more than just a meal—it’s a movement.

Starr, also affectionately known as Honour’s mom, brings a legacy of excellence, leadership, and creativity to the table. Known for her talents as a singer and respected for her business acumen, Starr originally launched the Black Wall Street Brunch Club years ago at her restaurant, Manhattan on Brookside, where guests were treated to soulful dishes and a soul-stirring atmosphere.
