Building Futures Through Faith and Sound: The Greenwood Beat – WFPG and The WJM Foundation Announce Transformative Partnership

Tulsa, OK – June 2025The Greenwood Beat – WFPG is proud to announce a powerful and purpose-driven partnership with The WJM Foundation, a nonprofit youth organization founded by Minister Antonio McGlothin, Sr. Since its inception in 1996, The WJM Foundation has served as a sanctuary for youth seeking an alternative to the streets—offering faith-based guidance, music enrichment, educational support, and a message of hope that echoes through generations.

Now, in collaboration with The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, the Foundation’s mission is expanding with amplified reach and renewed commitment to our communities.

A Legacy of Love and Leadership

Founded by Minister Antonio McGlothin, Sr., The WJM Foundation became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2000. It was birthed out of a simple yet powerful desire—to provide a safe haven for youth, steering them away from violence, gangs, drugs, and negative influences by introducing them to the transformative power of music, literacy, sports, and above all, spiritual grounding through Christ.

At its core, the Foundation teaches children that they are not defined by their past or environment. “Build your future,” is not just a slogan—it’s a daily affirmation woven into every program and mentoring moment.

Uniting for Community Impact

This strategic partnership with The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first woman-owned radio station on historic Greenwood Avenue, creates exciting new opportunities for outreach, engagement, and expansion. Together, the two organizations will launch innovative community programs centered around youth empowerment, broadcasting education, spiritual growth, and creative expression.

Key initiatives include:

  • General education tutoring and mentorship

  • Broadcast and music education programs

  • Community-based service connection hubs

  • Spoken word, DJ, and songwriting workshops

  • Faith-focused youth media segments airing on The Greenwood Beat

Through Hope Hop Multimedia, Minister McGlothin’s media and outreach arm, the mission is extended beyond the Foundation’s walls and into the airwaves, households, and neighborhoods. This joint effort brings the technology and tools necessary to empower our next generation—bridging the gap between available services and community access.

Faith, Purpose, and Possibility

Minister McGlothin believes that transformation starts with belief—faith in God, faith in self, and faith in the possibility of change. With this new collaboration, he envisions a “wall of love” spreading across the city, uplifting communities and creating a ripple effect of restoration and hope.

“Hope can be the driving force that turns hopeless atmospheres into positive outcomes.” – Rev. Antonio McGlothin, Sr.

The Greenwood Beat – WFPG is honored to stand with The WJM Foundation to promote peace, provide positive pathways for our youth, and create programming that echoes through the hearts of listeners everywhere.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, David’s journey as a creative has traveled just as much as he has. After moving frequently during his childhood, he and his family made Tulsa, Oklahoma home in 2001. 📰 The Greenwood Beat: Creating History in the Greenwood District

The Importance of Black Media & How to Connect and Advertise

The Greenwood District in Tulsa, Oklahoma—widely known as “Black Wall Street”—has long stood as a beacon of Black excellence, entrepreneurship, and resilience. Today, that legacy continues through The Greenwood Beat – WFPG.  With every broadcast, interview, feature, and soundbite, The Greenwood Beat is creating history—amplifying Black voices, supporting local businesses, and reigniting the cultural flame that once made Greenwood a global symbol of Black empowerment.

🔊 Why Black Media Matters

Black media outlets are not just channels of entertainment—they are essential tools of truth, preservation, and representation. For decades, Black communities have relied on independent media to tell stories that mainstream platforms often ignore or misrepresent. TGB carries that mission forward by highlighting issues, leaders, and movements that directly impact Black families, entrepreneurs, artists, and change-makers.

Black media:

  • Empowers communities with real, relatable narratives

  • Provides economic opportunities through targeted advertising

  • Protects cultural integrity by controlling the narrative

  • Preserves legacy, especially in historically significant areas like Greenwood

At a time when so much of the media landscape is consolidated and commercialized, platforms like The Greenwood Beat are revolutionary.

📡 Creating History One Beat at a Time

The Greenwood Beat isn’t just a station—it’s a movement. From syndicated shows hosted by national recording artists and community leaders to powerful local programming like Ask Angela, HopeHop Multimedia Podcast, Honour’ Society and Trumpet on Greenwood, The Greenwood Beat delivers unapologetically Black content rooted in truth, education, and elevation.

Listeners from across the nation are tuning in. Businesses are gaining visibility. Stories are being told. And Greenwood is rising again—on beat.
