Greenwood Was Alive with Legacy: Day 1 of The Greenwood Youth Radio Camp + Powerful Conversations with Tulsa Legends
TULSA, OK — The energy was high yesterday at The Greenwood Beat – WFPG as we launched Day 1 of the Greenwood Youth Radio Summer Camp! Young minds from across Tulsa joined us to learn about radio, storytelling, and the living legacy of historic Greenwood. But it wasn’t just about broadcasting — it was about building legacy, learning the truth, and being inspired by those who lived it.
Dr. Angela K. Chambers, CEO and Founder of WFPG, hosted an electrifying segment with Terry Baccus, the one and only “Mayor of Greenwood,” and the official Tour Guide of Black Wall Street. The in-depth conversation peeled back layers of history many have never heard — untold stories, powerful insights, and a passionate call to preserve and share the truth of Greenwood’s past and present.
“If you’re coming to Greenwood, book a tour with the best,” Dr. Chambers shared. And we agree — TourOfBlackWallStreet.com is your front-row seat to the soul of the original Black Wall Street.
But that’s not all — Tulsa music legend Eddie Jones, known as “Eddie Jay,” graced the studio with stories, laughter, and music. A hidden gem with deep roots in our community and music heard around the world, Eddie reflected on his journey and even shared a snippet of his timeless hit “Keep Smilin’” — now streaming on YouTube. And just when we thought it couldn’t get better, Eddie previewed a brand-new song he hopes to record with none other than Charlie Wilson of the GAP Band.
Our campers had front-row seats to both interviews — witnessing the power of legacy, culture, and community firsthand.
