Historic Greenwood Day of Prayer Unites Tulsa in Faith, Healing, and Hope

TULSA, OK — On the sacred ground of the Historic Greenwood District, where Black Wall Street once thrived, the community is set to gather in unity and prayer for the Historic Greenwood Day of Prayer. This deeply moving event will serve as a collective call for healing, restoration, and forward movement for Greenwood, Tulsa, and communities across the nation.

Hosted by The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first Black woman-owned radio station on historic Greenwood Avenue, the historic Greenwood Day of Prayer brings together spiritual leaders, civic voices, business owners, artists, youth, and elders from every walk of life. Lifted voices not just for remembrance, but for revival.

From solemn prayers for justice and peace to joyful songs of praise and declarations of prosperity, each moment of the event will honor the past while declaring faith in a brighter future. The event serves as a space for the community to release burdens, reconnect with purpose, and realign with the power of faith.

“There’s something sacred about standing on this land and declaring life over what was once destroyed,” said Dr. Angela K. Chambers, CEO and Founder of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG. “We will pray not just for our businesses and families—but for our minds, our communities, and our ability to rise again as a people.”

COO Starr Fisher, the lead organizer of the event, shared her vision for the impact of the Historic Greenwood Day of Prayer:

“This isn’t just a moment—it’s a movement. Prayer is our foundation, and we’re calling our community to gather not just in remembrance, but in power, purpose, and faith. Greenwood still breathes, and with every prayer lifted, we’re rebuilding what was meant to be buried,” said Fisher.

Highlights of the Day of Prayer include:

  • Powerful invocations from local pastors, ministers, and spiritual leaders

  • Community affirmations and scripture readings on healing and unity

  • Live gospel music and worship

  • Testimonies

  • Prayers for small business owners, justice reform, youth, education, and economic empowerment

The Historic Greenwood Day of Prayer is part of a broader movement by The Greenwood Beat – WFPG to restore the soul of Black Wall Street through storytelling, music, culture, entrepreneurship, and community-building.
