New Business Opening on Greenwood Avenue: Buying Time on Greenwood

The Greenwood District, also known as Black Wall Street, is set to welcome a new business on February 1st. Buying Time on Greenwood, a curated antique and gift store, aims to celebrate the rich history of the area and support local black artists.

One business partner, Dr. Angela K. Chambers, of Buying Time on Greenwood will feature artwork that reflects the historic Greenwood District, including pieces inspired by the time before, during, and after the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. Dr. Chambers believes that shopping in Greenwood is essential for building a thriving economic system, similar to what OW Gurley cultivated in the 1920s.

The store will offer a diverse range of gifts and antique items, with new merchandise being added daily. Dr. Chambers, along with her business partner, shares a passion for revitalizing the historic Greenwood District. Together, they have created Buying Time on Greenwood as a way to contribute to its growth and preservation.

To staff the store, Buying Time on Greenwood is hosting a hiring event on Saturday, January 27th, from 9 am to 6 pm. On-the-spot interviews will be conducted for store clerks and other positions. Candidates can also email their resumes to angela@trichomeok.com.

The grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Buying Time on Greenwood will take place on Thursday, February 1st. This event marks an exciting milestone for the Greenwood District, as it continues to rebuild and honor its remarkable history.

Don’t miss the opportunity to support this new business and experience the unique offerings at Buying Time on Greenwood.
