Minister Alvin Muhammad: A Trumpet of Truth and Transformation on Historic Greenwood

From the very first day The Greenwood Beat – WFPG launched its airwaves, one voice has consistently echoed through the station with purpose, power, and passion: Minister Alvin Muhammad. As the Chief Sustainability Officer of Oklahoma’s first woman-owned radio station on the historic Greenwood Avenue, Minister Muhammad has played an instrumental role in laying the foundation and fueling the mission of this groundbreaking media outlet.

Not only has he been a steady hand in support, but also a pillar of strength behind the scenes. With financial contributions and an unwavering commitment, he built his signature show Trumpet on Greenwood, which proudly stands as the longest-running broadcasted show from the iconic Greenwood Avenue — once known as the original Black Wall Street.

Airing every Sunday at 1:30 PM CST, Trumpet on Greenwood is more than a radio show; it’s a movement. Minister Muhammad uses the platform to speak life into the community, offering wisdom, cultural insight, and truth designed to uplift and educate listeners across generations. Whether he’s discussing community issues, offering spiritual guidance, or highlighting Black excellence, his message resonates deeply with audiences seeking growth and empowerment.

But Minister Muhammad’s impact extends well beyond the microphone. As the founder of Superior Outdoor Services, Inc., he provides jobs and training opportunities in lawn maintenance and landscaping throughout the Tulsa metro area. His work in this field reflects his dedication not just to business, but to building people — giving others the tools to work, provide, and take pride in their skills.

A man of deep faith, Minister Muhammad is also a loving husband, devoted father, and a very proud grandfather. He is a mentor and a respected advocate, constantly urging the culture to strive for more, to rise above, and to build stronger futures rooted in unity and excellence.

His partnership with Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, has been essential in the station’s growth and sustainability. Together, along with Co-Owner and COO, Starr Fisher, they continue to make history while honoring the legacy of those who came before — ensuring that Greenwood remains a beacon of strength and possibility.

As Dr. Chambers often says, The Greenwood Beat – WFPG is “Rebuilding Black Wall Street one beat at a time.” And with leaders like Minister Alvin Muhammad holding the trumpet, the message is clear and the mission is alive.

Tune in every Sunday at 1:30 PM CST to Trumpet on Greenwood on www.thegreenwoodbeat.com and experience the voice, the vision, and the vibration of a true community servant.

The Greenwood Beat – WFPG Participates in the 2024 Claremore Christmas Parade

The spirit of the holiday season was alive and vibrant on Friday night as The Greenwood Beat – WFPG proudly took part in the 2024 Claremore Christmas Parade. The event drew large crowds, filling the streets with festive cheer, twinkling lights, and the unmistakable sound of Christmas melodies.

A highlight of the night captured Honour Rose, the charismatic host of The Honour Society show on WFPG, posing in front of a beautifully adorned “Merry Christmas” banner. The banner, a centerpiece of the parade’s decorations, featured the logos of Music Giving Hope, Ike’s Chili, Tunes & Spoons, and The Greenwood Beat – WFPG—an ensemble of organizations and businesses that capture the spirit of community and giving.

The Greenwood Beat – WFPG’s participation underscored its ongoing commitment to celebrating and uplifting local communities. With a lineup of Christmas carols and engaging commentary from Honour Rose, the station’s presence added an extra sparkle to the night.

Looking Ahead: Tunes & Spoons 2025

While the Christmas Parade marked a joyous close to 2024, Claremore is already gearing up for another major community event: the Tunes & Spoons Chili Cook-Off and Music Festival, set for August 22-24, 2025. Created by the late Tito Jackson and his visionary team, this annual festival will become a beloved tradition in the City of Claremore.

Tito was a proud Oklahoma resident and his vision for Tunes and Spoons developed after the tornadoes came thru and destroyed parts of Claremore, what he affectionately called his “hometown”. He wanted to help rebuild his community and purchase uniforms for the first responders in Claremore.

Combining mouthwatering chili recipes with live music performances, the festival continues to honor Tito Jackson’s legacy of bringing people together through food, music, and community. With WFPG and other local organizations supporting the event, it promises to be a highlight of next summer.

As Claremore continues to celebrate its unique traditions, The Greenwood Beat – WFPG remains a steadfast partner in telling the stories that bring the community closer. Whether it’s lighting up the night during the Christmas parade or amplifying the excitement of the Tunes & Spoons festival, WFPG is proud to be at the heart of it all.

Stay connected to The Greenwood Beat – WFPG for more information on the Tunes Spoons Chili Cook Off and Music Festival in 2025.
