The Greenwood Beat – WFPG Announces New Community Mental Health Partnerships and Launch of Grief & Trauma Support Services

Tulsa, OK – June 26, 2025 — In a powerful move to uplift and care for the community in the face of recent tragedy and ongoing trauma, The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first and only Black woman-owned radio station on historic Greenwood Avenue, is proud to announce its newly secured partnerships with Family & Children’s Services and Grand Mental Health to provide counseling and Grief & Trauma Support Services to the Greenwood community.

This vital partnership was made possible through the leadership of Starr Fisher, Chief Operating Officer of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, who has been working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that resources, support, and professional services are brought directly to the people of Greenwood. The trauma and grief that continues to touch the community — especially our youth — demands more than conversation; it calls for compassionate action, and that is exactly what this partnership delivers.

Tonight, Thursday, June 26, at 6:00 PM, we invite the community to gather at 104 N. Greenwood Avenue — the home of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG — as we host a Community Open Mic Night, giving individuals the opportunity to express themselves, be heard, and begin the healing process. Whether through spoken word, testimony, prayer, or honest conversation, this is a safe space to let your voice be heard. Guests may also call in live to join the conversation on-air.

“It’s okay to ask for help,” said Dr. Angela K. Chambers, Founder and CEO of The Greenwood Beat – WFPG. “Tonight is about healing. It’s about being real. And it’s about knowing that you don’t have to carry this alone. We’re building something new — one beat at a time — and that includes healing our people.”

The Grief & Trauma Support Service will be offered in collaboration with licensed professionals from Family & Children’s Services and Grand Mental Health, who will be present on-site and available for follow-up services.

As The Greenwood Beat – WFPG continues to grow its reach across the airwaves, it remains deeply committed to the community it serves. More than a radio station, it is a platform for truth, healing, and action — restoring the heartbeat of Black Wall Street and amplifying the voices too often left unheard.
