The Greenwood Beat – WFPG Invites Poets & Spoken Word Artists to Celebrate Juneteenth On-Air

Tulsa, OK – In honor of Juneteenth, The Greenwood Beat – WFPG, Oklahoma’s first woman-owned and first-ever radio station on historic Greenwood Avenue, is opening the mic to powerful voices of poetry, resistance, and celebration.

We are thrilled to announce a Juneteenth Poetry Showcase — a special radio segment dedicated to the voices of Black poets and spoken word artists, airing Wednesday, June 19, 2025.

This is a moment to reflect, uplift, and empower. Through original poetry and spoken word performances, we aim to amplify the truth, beauty, and resilience of the Black experience. We are calling on artists from Tulsa and beyond to submit and/or perform live as part of this historic on-air event.

We’re looking for powerful pieces that speak to:

  • Freedom
  • Legacy
  • Black Wall Street
  • Resistance
  • Black Joy
  • Love of Culture
  • Our Continued Rise

Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a fresh voice with a message to share, this is your opportunity to stand in the legacy of Greenwood and speak your truth.
